What Are the Peking University Scholarships for International Students?

Before enrolling in Peking University, foreign students can apply for Chinese Government Scholarship, Beijing Foreign Student Scholarship, Peking University Foreign Student Scholarship or Confucius Institute Scholarship, etc. After enrollment, there are still opportunities to apply for Beijing Foreign Student Scholarships and other financial aid based on academic records and other comprehensive performance.

There are two types of scholarships: full scholarship and partial scholarship. According to the setting of each scholarship, the content of the whole prize is different.

I. Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS)

In order to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese people and the people of other countries, and to develop exchanges and cooperation between China and other countries in the fields of politics, economy, culture, education, economy and trade, the Chinese government has established a series of scholarship programs. These scholarships are used to fund outstanding students and scholars from all over the world to study, study and engage in research activities in Chinese universities. The Chinese government scholarship mainly includes the following projects:

II. Confucius Institute Scholarship

1. Project Description:

In order to promote the international promotion of Chinese language and the spread of Chinese culture, and support the construction of Confucius Institutes and the sustainable development of international Chinese language education, Hanban has established Confucius Institute Scholarships to fully fund foreign students, scholars and Chinese teachers to study in China. The scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, basic teaching materials, one-time placement fees and living expenses. Peking University currently accepts Confucius Institute scholarship winners to study at Peking University as one-year/one-semester Chinese general study students or master students.

2. Qualifications for application:

General advanced students:

outstanding students from Confucius Institutes (classrooms) in various countries, winners of the “Chinese Bridge” competition, outstanding students of Chinese majors in foreign universities.

Master students:

outstanding students from Confucius Institutes (classrooms) in various countries, winners of the “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Contest, overseas local Chinese teachers, and outstanding graduates of Chinese majors from foreign universities.

III. Asian Future Leaders Scholarship Program

1. Project introduction:

Peking University is one of the major universities in the Asian Future Leaders Scholarship Program (AFLSP).

Under the management of Baixian Institute of Asia (BXAI), AFLSP provides scholarships to high-quality students studying in Asia, and also provides a platform for students and educational institutions to cultivate lasting relationships based on mutual trust and understanding to build cultural bridges .

In 2015, Baixian established a three-year scholarship program at Peking University to award five Asian students from the Yenching Academy of Peking University and five Japanese students from other departments of Peking University.

2. Eligibility for application:

● Proficient in English

● Integrity and honesty, caring about understanding international and cross-cultural issues, enthusiastic about participating in voluntary services, and agreeing with Baixian’s mission and vision

3. Scholarship recipients must meet the following requirements:

● Participate in the summer optimization project organized by Baixian

● Stay at Peking University Asian Youth Exchange Center for one year (only for Japanese students from other departments of Peking University)

IV. Beijing Scholarship for Foreign Students

Project Description:

The Beijing Municipal Education Commission established and launched the “Beijing Foreign Student Scholarship” in 2006 to fund tuition. It aims to promote the internationalization of Beijing’s higher education, attract more outstanding high-level foreign students and scholars to study and work in China Research activities, encourage outstanding students to continue their studies here and reward international students who are both good in character and academic and friendly to China.

Eligibility for application:

♦ Non-Chinese citizens;

♦ Did not receive any other forms of scholarship to fund tuition at the time of application;

♦ Undergraduates, masters, and doctoral students of the applicant currently studying at Peking University;

♦ No fail in the required professional courses (applicable if you pass the re-study);

♦ Applicants who register, pay tuition fees and go through visa residency procedures on time, have no moral impropriety, have not violated the school’s relevant management regulations; have not been punished by department or higher level or school discipline; have not violated Chinese laws, and have not been subjected to judicial departments or Punishment by public security organs.

V. Peking University Scholarship for International Students

1. Project Description:

The “Peking University Scholarship for Foreign Students” is a subsidized scholarship established by Peking University in 2012, aiming to attract more outstanding foreign students to Peking University to study for bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees. And there are many Peking University majors, but no matter what major you are in, as long as you achieve application qualifications, you can get the scholarship.

The scholarship is divided into two types: full scholarship and partial scholarship. Full scholarships include exemption of tuition, living expenses (including accommodation subsidies) and medical insurance; some scholarships include exemption of tuition.

Students who receive this scholarship must participate in the annual comprehensive assessment of the scholarship in April each year to determine whether they are eligible to continue or resume the scholarship.

2. Application Qualification:

Applicants must be undergraduate freshmen (including undergraduate Chinese tuition students), postgraduate freshmen and doctoral freshmen (including graduate students and doctoral students) who have obtained the admission qualifications for foreign students of Peking University and have not received any other scholarships. New graduate students studying for professional degrees, cooperative programs, and English-taught programs of Peking University are not eligible to apply. VI. Confucius New Sinology Project

1. Project Description:

The “Confucius New Sinology Project” was established by Hanban to fund outstanding young people from all over the world through research projects and other methods. The funding content includes living allowance, research and research fees, international round-trip travel expenses (economy class, reimbursed according to actual expenses), Chinese university training expenses, foreign tutors’ research expenses in China, medical and accident insurance expenses during their stay in China, and collective activities and culture Experience is currently the highest scholarship program for international students in China.

The Confucius New Sinology Program is a tutorial system, and Peking University is one of the first pilot universities for the Confucius New Sinology Program. Senior scholars:
