1. Introduction to Guangzhou Lingnan University
Guangzhou Lingnan University is abbreviated as “LU”. It was born in Guangzhou in 1888. It is now one of the public universities funded by the eight major churches in Hong Kong. It is a founding member of the “Asia Liberal Arts University Alliance”, and one of members of the “World Liberal Arts College Alliance”, “Beijing-Hong Kong University Alliance”, “Guangdong Hong Kong Macao University Alliance”, “Shanghai Hong Kong University Alliance”, and the certified member of the “Association of International Business Schools (AACSB)”. Lingnan University pursues the philosophy of liberal arts education and is unique in Hong Kong’s higher education community. In 2015, it was named one of the top ten liberal arts universities in Asia by Forbes.
Guangzhou Lingnan University focuses on humanities and social sciences and is a teaching-oriented university focusing on undergraduate education. It deliberately reduces the scale to implement highly interactive small class teaching and build a close teacher-student relationship. The curriculum is characterized by a broad foundation, interdisciplinary research and study, and aims to teach students to become “a free man with extensive knowledge and an elegant life.” The Faculty of Arts allows students to use their creativity to design their own majors. 3. Kinds of scholarships for international students of Guangzhou Lingnan University
Scholarship Type 1: Outstanding Student Scholarship: There are different kinds of scholarships for international students studying in China. This scholarship is established by the Ministry of Education of China to support those who have completed the original study plan in China, and obtained a master’s or doctoral degree in the same year and have excellent character and academic ability to continue their studies, including the full scholarships and partial scholarships. Applicants can apply to the China Scholarship Council through their school.
Scholarship Type 2: Great Wall Scholarship of the Chinese Government: This scholarship is a full scholarship provided by the Ministry of Education of China to UNESCO. It only enrolls general advanced students and senior advanced students. Applicants can apply to the Headquarters of UNESCO or the National Committee of Education, Science and Culture of their home country.
