In June 1994, Tianjin Medical College and Tianjin Second Medical College merged to form Tianjin Medical University. In 1996, the school was identified as a key construction university in the national “211 Project”. In September 2017, the school was selected as one of the first batch of national “First-Class  Universities and Disciplines of the World”.Â
